Overview Dashboard

Learn the Behavior Intelligence Overview page: live pulse, KPI cards, daily trends, visit breakdowns, intelligence feed, ranked lists, and the Aria assistant.

Purpose of the Overview page

The Overview is your home dashboard inside Behavior Intelligence. It answers two questions every morning: what happened yesterday and what deserves attention today. Rather than dumping raw tables, Overview combines headline KPIs, a trend chart, dimensional breakdowns, an automated intelligence feed, and ranked lists into a single scrollable view tied to the global date range in the toolbar.

Think of Overview as the executive summary. When a metric looks unusual, click through to Traffic, Sessions, or Anomalies for root-cause analysis. When the intelligence feed surfaces an opportunity, send it to the Growth Plan with one click.

Live pulse and Realtime link

At the top of Overview, the Live pulse card shows how many visitors are active right now based on recent event activity. The number refreshes periodically and includes a View link that opens the Realtime page with a deeper live window (5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes).

Use Live pulse during launches, email sends, or paid campaigns to confirm traffic is arriving. If Live pulse reads zero while you know visitors are on the site, check Data Quality and Settings before assuming a traffic problem.

Key metrics (hero KPIs)

Hero KPI cards summarize the selected date range:

  • Visits / sessions — Unique session count and total page engagement.
  • Clicks — Tracked button and link interactions from your Component Registry targets.
  • Contact actions — Goal completions tied to forms or high-intent clicks you configured.
  • Friction signals — Indicators such as high exit pages or low scroll depth on key URLs.

Each card shows a comparison delta against the previous period when comparison mode is enabled in the toolbar. Green and red arrows reflect directionality—always read the label to know whether up is good (clicks) or bad (friction).

Reading comparison deltas

Comparison uses the same number of days immediately before your selected range. A seven-day range compares against the prior seven days. Seasonality matters: a Monday dip may be normal for B2B sites. Cross-check with the daily trend chart before reacting.

Daily trend chart

The trend section plots sessions and events day-by-day across the range. Hover for exact counts. When comparison is on, a ghost line shows the prior period so you can spot structural shifts versus one-day noise.

Common patterns: weekday/weekend splits, campaign spikes on send days, and gradual SEO growth as new content ranks. Pair the chart with Anomalies to see whether a spike was flagged statistically.

Visit breakdowns

Breakdown panels slice the current range by:

  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Browser family
  • Country (requires geo IP database—see Data Quality)
  • Marketing channel (organic, direct, referral, paid, etc.)
  • Top landing pages and referrers

These are the same dimensions available on Traffic but condensed for quick scanning. Click a landing page row to open Journeys filtered from that entry point when available.

Tip: Pin a saved view with your preferred 28-day range and primary segment (e.g. organic mobile) so Overview always opens with the context you care about most.

Intelligence feed

The intelligence feed aggregates automated signals: detected anomalies, SEO opportunities, funnel drop-offs, and AI-generated insights when enabled. Each item includes severity, a short explanation, and links to relevant pages.

Items are not alerts in the WordPress admin sense—they are analytical nudges. Dismiss or action them via the Growth Plan workflow when you decide to track remediation.

Ranked lists and quick journeys

Lower on the page, ranked lists show:

  1. Top pages by views in the range.
  2. Top buttons by click volume—requires Tracking Plan coverage.
  3. Stuck pages where users linger without progressing.
  4. Outbound links driving exits to external domains.

The journeys and audience strip summarizes common paths and new-vs-returning mix. For full path analysis, open the Journeys page. For audience exports, use Details → Audience or Report Builder.

Weekly review ritual

Effective teams run a consistent Overview review: compare hero KPIs to the prior period, scan the intelligence feed for new anomalies, check ranked button lists against recent UI changes, and note one item for Growth Plan. This 10-minute habit beats ad hoc deep dives when something breaks silently.

Pair Overview with Realtime during campaigns—Overview tells you yesterday's story; Realtime confirms today's delivery. Export trend data monthly for executive slides via Report Builder if stakeholders do not log into WordPress.

Customizing what you see

Saved views let you reopen Overview with the same 28-day organic mobile segment every Monday. Segments persist until cleared, so document active filters in standup notes to avoid misinterpretation. Aria can summarize Overview context when AI is enabled—ask for narrative explanation of KPI deltas after reading the numbers yourself.

Additional best practices

Behavior Intelligence works best when tracking coverage, funnel definitions, and team review rituals stay aligned. Revisit this guide after major site changes—new theme, consent plugin, or checkout provider—and confirm Realtime, Data Quality, and Tracking Plan still agree.

Share direct help links from the in-app help panel so teammates read the same canonical definitions. Press Ctrl+K in the help center to jump between related guides quickly.

  • Align date ranges before comparing metrics across pages.
  • Document segment names when sharing screenshots.
  • Verify fixes in Realtime before closing Growth Plan items.
  • Keep UTM conventions consistent for Marketing and Traffic.
  • Schedule AI analysis after enough post-change data accumulates.
